This page explains how we research, choose and recommend products, and the standards every guide on PlusReviews is held to.
How we research and recommend
Our guides are built on research, not on press releases or a single source. For each guide we gather and compare information from:
- Manufacturer specifications: official spec sheets, manuals and product documentation.
- Independent lab and expert tests: published measurements and reviews from reputable testing organizations and specialist reviewers.
- Long-term owner reports: patterns in verified owner feedback, especially about reliability, durability and problems that only show up after months of use.
- Return and warranty terms: how long the warranty lasts, what it covers, and how easy it is to return the product.
- Price history: typical selling prices over time, so we can tell you whether a deal is genuinely good.
What we do and do not claim
We do not claim to have tested a product hands-on unless a guide explicitly says so. When a guide includes our own hands-on testing, we will state that clearly and describe what we did. Otherwise, our recommendations are based on the research sources listed above, and we say so.
How we choose our picks
When selecting products for a guide, we consider:
- Fit for purpose: does the product do the job it is meant to do, for the people we are recommending it to?
- Evidence quality: is its performance supported by consistent findings across multiple independent sources?
- Reliability and support: what do owner reports, warranty terms and return policies suggest about long-term ownership?
- Value: how does the price compare with similar products, both today and historically?
- Trade-offs: every product has weaknesses. We name them so you can decide whether they matter to you.
We aim to recommend options for different budgets and needs rather than a single “best” product for everyone.
Independence from affiliate commissions
We earn money through affiliate links, which are explained in our Affiliate Disclosure. Commissions never decide which products we recommend or how we rank them. We do not accept payment in exchange for a positive review or a higher placement. A product that pays a higher commission gets no advantage over one that pays less, or nothing at all.
If we ever publish sponsored content, it will always be clearly labeled as sponsored and kept separate from our editorial recommendations.
Updates and dated stamps
Products, prices and availability change constantly. We review our guides regularly and update them when a product is discontinued, a better option appears, prices shift significantly, or new evidence comes to light. Each guide shows an “Updated” date so you can see how current the information is.
Corrections
We work hard to be accurate, but mistakes happen. If you spot an error, please email us at contact@plusreviews.net with a link to the page and a description of the issue. We review every correction request, fix confirmed errors promptly, and update the page’s date when we make a meaningful change.
Use of AI tools
AI tools may assist us with drafting and research, such as summarizing specifications or organizing notes. Our editors review and verify facts, check claims against sources, and are responsible for everything we publish. AI tools do not decide our recommendations.
